━ Our core technology

A full-size screen that folds to fit.

Splay’s engineering solves one hard problem: delivering a 24.5″ FHD display and a projector up to 100″ from a chassis that collapses to the size of a lunchbox — and redeploys, by hand, in under 30 seconds.

Key Technology Attributes

§ 02 — SIX SYSTEMS, ONE CHASSIS

Deploy

SYS-01 · MECHANICAL

Collapsible display architecture

A spring-tensioned frame expands and retracts in a single continuous motion — the same principle as an umbrella. The structure is the screen’s frame, so there’s no case to assemble and no calibration step on deploy.

OPTICS

SYS-02 · OUTPUT

Dual-mode output engine

One chassis operates in two output modes. Display mode drives a 24.5″ FHD panel at 760 nits — legible in lit rooms. Projector mode casts a 16:9 image up to 100″ diagonal at 285 lumens. Both run from the same connected source.

GEOMETRY

SYS-03 · IMAGE

Automatic keystone correction

In projector mode, on-board keystone correction squares the projected image against off-axis walls, restoring rectangular geometry automatically — no manual trapezoid adjustment to set a clean frame.

POWER

SYS-04 · ENERGY

Integrated energy system

A 44 Wh internal cell runs Splay standalone — about 4 hours at minimum brightness, 1.5 at maximum. It charges over 15 V USB-C (adapter and cable included) and accepts a 15 V USB-C power bank for extended runtime. A 5 V USB output powers the wireless adapter or tops up a phone.

SERVICE

SYS-05 · LIFECYCLE

Replaceable screen module

The screen is a serviceable part. A scuffed or torn surface is swapped in the field rather than retiring the whole device — engineered so wear on the most-handled component doesn’t end the product’s life.

I/O

SYS-06 · INTERFACE

Connectivity & mounting

Source over wired HDMI or the wireless HDMI adapter, powered from the unit’s own 5 V USB output. A standard tripod thread sets display eye-line or aims the projector at any wall — no supporting furniture required.

§ 03 — NANOMATERIAL · MATERIAL SCIENCE

Splay’s screen isn’t glass. It’s a flexible nanomaterial engineered to bend without breaking — impact-proof and waterproof where a conventional panel would crack or short out. Folded into its case, the whole device becomes a sealed, hard-shelled unit that shrugs off drops, spills, and the everyday abuse of being carried. This is the single biggest departure from a traditional screen.

MATERIAL

Bends, doesn't break

The nanomaterial screen absorbs impact by flexing instead of fracturing, and its surface sheds water — so knocks and spills that would end a glass panel leave it working.

CASE

Sealed for the road

Collapsed into its case, Splay is a compact, hard-shelled, waterproof unit built to be thrown in a bag and moved between rooms, sites, or cities without a second thought.

Beyond durability

A different kind of light. A better experience.
A screen that's easy on your eyes, too.

Resilience and portability are half the story. Splay’s display technology is engineered around how light actually reaches your eyes.

Traditional screens

Additive light

Backlit panels project light directly at the eye, at full intensity, for every minute of use.

Eye fatigue: High

Splay

Subtractive light

Splay reflects and diffuses ambient light rather than firing it directly at the viewer, closer to how paper reads.

Eye fatigue: Low

Eye fatigue study data

Splay vs. traditional OLED monitors

"Screen time is associated with measurable declines in visual-cognitive performance. Splay was statistically correlated with significantly less decline in performance."
